welcome

If you are looking after or helping anyone who is ill, disabled or frail, then the Carers Liaison Project is for you, no matter how many hours your caring role involves.

We work with all types of carers in West Sussex, especially in the Western area which covers Chichester District, Bognor Regis and Arundel.

The contribution that carers make is often forgotten and taken for granted. Services can be difficult to access and complicated to understand. Information on which services are available can be difficult to get hold of. Carers can also feel isolated by their caring role. We work with carers and all agencies to improve this situation.

Check the Information for Carers area for topics such as Carers Groups, Young Carers, Equipment & Adaptations and many other subjects.

Who are we?
The Carers Liaison Project is a voluntary sector project, funded by West Sussex Social Services. Begun in June 2000, the project consists of two workers; the Carers Liaison Officer and the Project Worker. In October 2005, the Project's Emotional Support for Carers service was launched, which is available to all carers and ex carers in our district. Since March 2006 we have also had a Mental Health Carers Support Worker who works with carers who look after someone with a mental illness.

In May 2007 we expanded again and were joined by an Information Worker, who will be running a number of carers Information Sessions at GP surgeries, Town Halls, hospitals, etc. For details of where these will be held, please contact the Project. A Telephone Support Worker was also appointed to join the Emotional Support for Carers team, and will be providing a telephone call-back service free of charge to carers and former carers.

We have a voluntary Steering Group which guides our work and we are a part of the Council for Voluntary Service for the Chichester District, which is a registered charity.

The Carers Information Pack 2007 edition is now available. If you would like a copy, please contact us on 01243 537011.
